PATNA, Sept. 6 -- Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday announced a series of educational initiatives designed to modernise schooling, empower educators and upgrade institutional infrastructure across the state. Commemorating Teachers' Day at Srikrishna Memorial Hall on Saturday, the CM unveiled initiatives that include integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence into state's schools and colleges. The state, the CM informed, has finalised an MoU with Google to train teachers in artificial intelligence tools. Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari welcomed the CM on behalf of 5,80,000 state teachers and exhorted the teaching community to uphold the venerable legacy of mentorship. Tiwari noted, "Teachers have been respected in Bihar for long - even Prabhu Ram and Laxman were tutored here by Sage Vishwamitra." Reaffirming that education remains anchored in the principle of Vidya Dadati Vinayam (education imparts modesty), Tiwari announced sending a personal three-page letter to educators via the e-Shikhakosh portal, adding that the CM had ordered the swift redressal of all teacher grievances. CM Samrat Choudhary urged educators to become the "Bhagya Vidhata" (destiny shapers) of the nation. "Magadh (ancient Bihar) was once the top destination of education. Knowledge seekers from across the world would descend here to earn and sharpen their scholarship," he said, calling on teachers to draw inspiration from that glorious heritage. Choudhary announced the establishment of a dedicated Teacher Training University to enhance the pedagogical capacities of over seven lakh educators across the state. "As a step to modernise pedagogical tools, the education department has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with world's most used search engine, Google. Collaborating with AI tech giants, Bihar will build a progressive AI ecosystem and deliver comprehensive training in emerging technologies to faculty members," he said. The CM also detailed ambitious examination reforms. Under the new framework, matriculation board results will be declared within seven days, with aggrieved students offered a re-examination slot within 15 days. Results for engineering and polytechnic programs will be delivered within 24 hours. The education minister has already announced that no student would me marked "Fail" in Class 10, 12 marksheets. The state government has also instituted an educational reform committee that is being headed by a sitting Patna High Court judge. It's been tasked to suggest measures to overhaul specifically the examination system. Additionally, nearly 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketan model schools offering specialized NEET and JEE coaching alongside live tutoring until midnight are being developed. On faculty welfare, Choudhary confirmed the clearance of pending salaries for Madarsa and Sanskrit board teachers, separate pay scales for non-aided staff, and ongoing BPSC recruitment drives for over 33,000 educators. Groundwork is also progressing to set up a regional Banaras Hindu University (BHU) center, alongside the revived Vikramshila University, for which land acquisition was completed on July 15. In Bihar, The CM said, the dropout rates have registered a historic plunge-falling from 46% to 2% at the primary level and under 10 percent in secondary schooling since 2004-05.
