four die after consuming 'spurious liquor' in patna
PATNA, Aug. 31 -- Four friends died after allegedly consuming suspected spurious liquor at Bedha village under Sahi police station in Barh sub-division in Patna on Sunday, police said.
Confirming the report, Patna SSP K Sharma said, "The four persons died but the cause of the death is not clear. The real cause of the death will be cleared after the post-mortem. Police recovered packed liquor bottles from the spot and the room has also been sealed," he added.
Locals told the police that four friends suddenly fell ill around 11am after a drinking party and all four fell unconscious within seconds, causing panic among family members and residents.
"They were rushed to Barh hospital for treatment. After primary care, they were referred to another hospital. However, all four died during treatment at NMCH," said an officer.
Police identified the deceased as Pankaj Kumar (45), Nishu Kumar (30), Vikas Kumar (40) and Shashi Kumar (32). "It is suspected that the deceased may have been affected by consuming poisonous liquor during a party," he added.
Another officer said that the actual cause will only be clear after investigation and once the medical reports come.
"The consumption of spurious liquor has not been officially confirmed. Police began investigating the matter and called the FSL team to collect evidence from the spot and are trying to find out the exact cause. An investigation is underway," he said....
