Four arms smugglers held in Aurangabad
AURANGABAD, June 21 -- The Special Task Force (STF) and Aurangabad police busted an inter-district arms smuggling racket and arrested four alleged members during raids in the Goh police station area of the district. Eight firearms and a large quantity of ammunition were also recovered, a senior STF official said on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off about a gang involved in firearms smuggling across Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur and Bhojpur districts, two teams of the Bihar STF's Special Operations Group (SOG), along with the District Intelligence Unit and Goh police, conducted a raid near the Damodarpur turning on the Goh-Rafiganj road on Friday evening.
During the operation, four persons were arrested while allegedly attempting to sell three loaded pistols, seven magazines and 60 rounds of ammunition. Police also seized three motorcycles. Based on information obtained during interrogation, another raid was carried out at Pranpur village under Goh police station, leading to the recovery of two illegal country-made carbines (tharnets), three country-made pistols, 55 rounds of .315-calibre ammunition and 44 rounds of 7.62-calibre ammunition....
