PATNA, July 11 -- Sanjay Kumar Yadav alias Sanjay Mukhiya, (55) a former mukhiya, was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a borewell near Tarwan at Raghopur under Bihta police station on Friday morning, police said. Agitated over the incident, a massive uproar erupted at Bihta after the body of Sanjay, former mukhiya of the Raghopur Panchayat, was found. Angry family members and villagers blocked the Bihta-Bikram main road and burnt tyres on the roads, disrupting traffic movement. The family told the police that Sanjay was in Patna last night but never returned home. "The incident came to light on Friday morning when his body was found at the wasteland of Raghopur village. We suspect that the criminals strangled him to death and then fled after dumping the body in the wasteland," said a villager on condition of anonymity. As the news of Sanjay's murder spread in the area, hundreds of locals blocked Bihta-Bikram highway and disrupted traffic movement for hours. They protested by burning tires on the road, causing a 5-kilometre-long traffic jam. The road remained blocked for nearly five hours, even trapping a school bus, police said. Soon, police teams from several police stations arrived at the spot. A heated argument occurred between the family members and the police. Later, City SP (West) Sanket Kumar pacified them saying the police would soon arrest the criminals involved in the case. The blockade was later lifted. The SP said, "This morning, police received information that the body of a man had been found at the wasteland of Raghopur village. A police team arrived at the scene and the deceased was identified as Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Raghopur village. Sanjay had criminal antecedents in several cases. The motive for the murder is unclear. The body was sent to Patna AIIMS for a postmortem examination and the FSL team is investigating," he added. SHO of Bihta police station, Amit Kumar said, "The police came to know from villagers that the body of Sanjay Kumar Yadav, former mukhiya of Raghopur Panchayat, was lying in a field near the Raghopur borewell. "The cause of death will only be revealed after the postmortem report and forensic examination. a FSL team has been called to the crime scene," he said....
