Forged papers with 1920s' registry used in land scam, three held
PATNA, Oct. 2 -- The economic offences unit (EOU) of the Bihar police busted a nexus of revenue employees with the local mafia in Jamui, arresting three people and unearthing the forgery of land papers that interestingly used forged registry documents of 1924 and 1927, officials aware of the development said.
Arrested people include revenue employee Chhotelal Yadav and land mafia associates Pradeep Chaudhary and Jawahan Prasad Yadav.
The prime accused in the case are land mafia Guddu Yadav and his wife Dulari Devi, who is the chairperson of the Jamui district board. Yadav is said to be close to the LJP(RV) and contested, but lost, the 2022 MLC (local bodies) elections as an independent from Munger. As many as 39 cases have been registered against him at various police stations in Jamui, Lakhisarai and Nawada districts. The land was acquired by the state government in 1959 and is in the Sikandara block of the district.
"The land mafia forged the registry of the land using back dates of 1924 and 1927 and then in connivance with the revenue staff got the land registered in the names of individuals in their syndicate," an EOU official in the matter said.
Officials said that the EOU has overall booked 16 people, including Yadav and Devi.
The EoU recovered 14 property-related documents in the names of Guddu Yadav, Dulari Devi and their relatives and other gang members during recent raids on their premises, said an official.
During the investigation, the EOU found that through three separate documents, 7-acre of land was purchased in the name of Dulari Devi alone at a lower price than the government fixed price with the connivance of the then revenue employee of Sikandra circle office, Chhotelal Yadav, the then circle officer Vinod Kumar Chaudhary, the then revenue officer Nibha Kumari and Mukesh Kumar Barnwal. According to EOU DIG Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, the mutation of registration deed numbers 154 and 156, which were done on January 8, 2019, was done with their assistance....
