PATNA, Aug. 12 -- Lightning strikes killed five people and injured eight others in Banka district on Tuesday, police said. Sudden adverse weather conditions caught victims in open fields, triggering widespread grief across multiple villages. In Bonda village under Suiya police station in the Chanan block. Around a dozen villagers were sowing paddy in agricultural fields in the evening when dark clouds gathered quickly, bringing heavy rain and thunder. As the workers ran to seek shelter, lightning struck the field, killing three women instantly. The strike also injured two other villagers.The deceased were identified as Kusmi (45), Renu (38) and Rinku (35), they said.
