KOLKATA, Aug. 30 -- The Kolkata Police on Saturday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly violating the Calcutta high court's order during the foundation day rally of the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) students' wing. "Police have registered a suo motu case against Banerjee and the organisers of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) rally at the Hastings police station for allegedly violating the Calcutta high court's order," said a senior IPS officer in Kolkata.
