Father murders 13-year-old daughter in Haridwar, held
Haridwar, Aug. 24 -- Police arrested a man here on Sunday for allegedly conspiring with a friend and killing his 13-year-old daughter on suspicion that she was talking to an unidentified man, officials said.
The accused, Dhaneshwar alias Tota, a resident of Manglaur, was arrested along with his alleged accomplice, Ashish, a resident of Brahampur Jat. Police also recovered a country-made pistol from them, officials said.
According to police, the girl had been missing from her home since August 21.
Her mother subsequently approached the police and lodged a complaint against her husband.
Based on the complaint, a case under Section 140(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to kidnapping with intent to murder, was registered at Manglaur police station.
"During questioning, Dhaneshwar confessed that he took his daughter on a motorcycle along with Ashish to the Ganga canal near Mata Mandir. They allegedly strangled her and then threw her body into the canal," said Bhagwan Mahar, station house officer, Manglaur police station.
