PATNA, Sept. 5 -- The vigilance investigation bureau (VIB) on Thursday arrested a 65-year-old executive engineer of Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BSEIDCL) for accepting a bribe of Rs.1.04 lakh from a contractor, officials said. The accused, identified as Dwijendra Kumar Mishra, was posted in Purnia and was apprehended near the Golf Club gate outside the police headquarters (Patel Bhawan). Mishra, who retired from the water resources department in 2021, has been working for BSEIDCL in Purnia through an outsourcing agency since 2023. Following the arrest, VIB teams searched Mishra's residence in the Lakhan Enclave, under the jurisdiction of the Rupaspur police station. During the operation, they recovered the bribe money along with an additional Rs.8.36 lakh in cash. Investigators also discovered documents pertaining to a flat in Rupaspur, investment papers valued at approximately Rs.1 crore, records of two bank lockers, and a collection of gold and silver jewelry currently being appraised.
