BHABUA, Aug. 25 -- Excise department officials seized 8,347 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs.1.25 crore from a truck at Intigrated Checkpost Karmnasha on GT Road (NH-19) at UP-Bihar borders under Mohania police station area of Kaimur district early on Monday. Based on a tip-off, excise officials led by checkpost in-charge Santosh Srivastava, intercepted a truck carrying a consignment of IMFL. During the check, liquor of various brands concealed beneath sacks of potatoes was recovered. The total quantity of liquor seized is 8,347 litres. Punjab made IMFL was being brought to Bihar from Punjab, excise superintendent Gautam Kumar said, adding that liquor mafia had erased the batch numbers on the bottles to conceal the source of the consignment and identity of the supply chain in order to avoid action. Truck driver Badal Singh and co-driver Shamsher Singh, both from Punjab, were arrested.
