PATNA, Aug. 5 -- Excise department on Tuesday seized India foreign made liquor (IMFL) worth Rs.75 lakh being transported to Darbhanga and arrested a truck driver at Didarganj overbridge area under the Didarganj police station. The accused truck driver, Mohan Joshi, a resident of Salumbar in Rajasthan, was taken into custody and is undergoing interrogation. The excise department said that on receiving information about an interstate gang involved in smuggling of illicit liquor, the excise department started an investigation. An excise officer said that acting on a tip-off about the transportation of illegal liquor, a raiding team intercepted the Haryana-registered truck and found that the liquor cartons-totalling 5,858.72 liters were concealed inside a specially constructed hidden chamber in the middle of the vehicle, masked behind several bags of sawdust. "We received information about a truck laden with liquor near Didarganj overbridge was about to reach. As the truck reached, the excise department intercepted the vehicle and conducted a search and found 663 cartons of IMFL which was estimated to be worth Rs.75 lakh was seized," an officer said....
