EOU finds cash, papers of 11 plots in raids on motor vehicle sub-inspector's premises
PATNA, Oct. 1 -- The economic offences unit (EOU) on Wednesday found Rs.3 lakh cash, one electric car, and papers of 11 plots of land belonging to motor vehicle sub-inspector (MVSI) Amit Kumar Gupta during raids at his properties in Patna and Bhojpur in connection with a disproportionate assets case. Gupta was appointed to the transport department as a motor sub-inspector in 2013.
His first deputation was at Dalkola (Purulia) Check Post. Subsequently, he has been working in several districts, including Muzaffarpur, Chapra, Araria, and Patna. The 11 plots of land were purchased in Patna and Chapra under the name of Gupta relatives.
In Avadhpuri (Ara Town), in addition to a three-storied-building, a under construction house on five-decimal land and a flat obtained in Patna. Documents for investment in flats and land at Imporia Infrastructure private limited Noida and Airwil business park private limited New Delhi have been found.
The EOU also found a bank locker, 15 passbooks, along with investments of over Rs. 30 lakh in shares and mutual funds, Rs.10 lakh investment in seven LIC policies.
Gupta's son who studies at a costly residential school in Darjeeling and a daughter who is studying in Kota.
The EOU raided his native home in Ara Town (Bhojour) and Sai Vardaan City Apartment in Danapur (Patna). EOU sleuths aware of the matter said Amit Kumar Gupta, currently posted in Bhabua situated on Delhi-Kolkata GT road. It is alleged that after joining the job, he acquired a large amount of movable and immovable property including land, house and flat.
The EOU team waited outside for about 15 minutes and repeatedly knock the door. Meanwhile, taking advantage of the opportunity, Amit threw away his mobile, cash and some important documents. Amit's wife is a government school teacher, she tried to run away from her husband, but the police stopped her....
