BETTIAH, May 27 -- Mufassil police in East Champaran district has arrested the alleged boyfriend of the third-year engineering student in connection with her death at the girls' hostel of Motihari College of Engineering on May 21, police said on Tuesday. In an official statement, the East Champaran police said that the woman, who was pursuing mechanical engineering, allegedly died by suicide due to a 'strained relationship' with her boyfriend, a resident of Munger district. "She posted a message saying 'good-bye' on his WhatsApp wall, embellished with a photograph of a noose," police said in its official statement. "He has been arrested and further investigation into the matter is underway," it added. The deceased was found dead in suspicious circumstances inside her hostel room in Motihari. Police had initially termed the incident a 'suicide'. However, her family alleged foul play and sought a thorough investigation. Police subsequently constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case and a murder case was registered based on a complaint by the woman's father....
