BETTIAH, Sept. 4 -- Two people, including a deputy village head and the husband of a ward member, were shot at and critically injured by armed assailants following an alleged dispute over payments of a government scheme under the Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar & Aajeevika Mission, Gramin (VB-G RAM G) in Bihar's West Champaran district on Wednesday evening, police said on Thursday. Bhairoganj's station house officer (SHO) Sita Kewat said the incident occurred when six armed criminals on three motorcycles spotted deputy village head of Bhairoganj panchayat Ashok Das (40) and Radheshyam Ram (38), husband of a ward member of Laxmipur village of Bhairoganj and fired at them at Kust Society Colony near Kapadhikka village in West Champaran around 7:30 pm on Wednesday. Both Munna Das and Sandeep Yadav have been arrested, police said in an official statement, issued on September 3.
