NEW delhi, Sept. 24 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday appointed in-charges of 36 states and UTs including Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Manipur which will go to polls in 2027 and also in two adjoining states of Bihar and Jharkhand. Harish Dwivedi, a party leader from Uttar Pradesh, has been appointed as the state incharge for Bihar. He will replace Vinod Tawde. Sangeeta Yadav and Rohan Gupta will be his co-incharges. Active in state and national politics since 1993, Dwivedi has been a leader who rose from cadre ranks and won the Lok Sabha election from Basti constituency in 2014. In Jharkhand, the BJP has pitched a tribal face to look after the organisational affairs and has appointed its national general secretary Gajendra Singh Patel in-charge of the party's state unit, besides two co-incharges, Saurabh Singh and Nivedita Singh. A former legislator, Saurabh Singh currently chairs the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC), while Nivedita Singh is a member of the Bihar Legislative Council, a party leader said. The central leadership appointed in-charges across all states and union territories on Wednesday. Patel, a two-term MP from Khargone Lok Sabha-a seat reserved for scheduled tribes in Madhya Pradesh-was made the party's national general secretary during the recent organizational rejig after Nitin Nabin became the national president. In other prominent changes, the party has appointed national vice president Ram Madhav as in charge of poll-bound Uttarakhand, while former national secretary Arvind Menon and Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj will be the co-incharges.
