AURANGABAD, Aug. 3 -- An Executive Officer (EO) of the Dehri-Dalmianagar Nagar Parishad (Municipal Council) in Rohtas district, Vimal Kumar, was on Sunday sensationally murdered under the Barun police station area in Aurangabad district on Saturday night by his driver while the officer was on his way from Dehri to his residence in Danapur, said police, adding that the driver was arrested. Police said that the driver Mithilesh Kumar committed the crime in a fit of rage after an altercation over urination stoppage. "The driver has said in the initial investigation that he was incensed over repeated denial of leave and being overworked by the EO. On Saturday night, while both were returning to Danapur, the driver wanted to stop for urination that the EO refused and a scuffle broke out between the two. Out of his rage, the driver pulled an iron pipe from the back seat and killed the EO by repeatedly hitting him," said Inspector General (IG) of police, Magadh Zone, Vikas Vaibhav. He added that the police had fished out the crime weapon -- an iron lever pipe -- from a canal near the crime scene. The police said that the driver had earlier called the police after the crime and said that he and EO were ambushed by a gang of criminals who killed the EO. His statement raised doubts and he later confessed to the crime in the investigation, police officers added. The police said they were investigating all possible angles in the case. Recently, Dehri MLA Rajiv Ranjan Singh Sonu has raised the name of deceased EO Vimal Kumar, alleging that he indulged in corruption. Meanwhile, a clip of deceased's wife accusing the MLA of demanding Rs.50 lakh from the officer and also making such calls on regular basis went viral on Sunday. The HT cannot confirm the authenticity of the video. Though, she named driver Mithilesh Kumar, a resident of Dehri, and his unidentified associates for her husband's murder. The police has registered the FIR in the case based on her statement under sections 101(3) and 3(5) of BNS. Following Kumar's killing, Executive Officers (EOs) of all urban bodies in Bihar went on an indefinite strike. In a letter to the Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department, the Bihar Urban Service Association's general secretary Arvind Kumar Singh demanded the immediate arrest of the murderers, the strictest possible punishment through a speedy trial, provision of adequate compensation and a government job for one family member of the deceased and adequate bodyguards and residential security for EOs....
