Drive begins to link all police stations with virtual meetings
PATNA, Oct. 8 -- In order to facilitate fast and smooth interaction between station house officers (SHOs), the Bihar Police on Wednesday started installing video-conferencing facilities in police stations in an exercise to cover police station in the entire state within a month, police officers aware of the move said.
Officers said that the principal secretary (home) Pankaj Kumar issued direction for the same during a review meeting with senior police officers at the police headquarters and that it is part of the various plans spelt out by CM Samrat Choudhary.
"Once this facilities operational this will allow senior officials to meet with the any police station directly from their office. Subsequently, police station officers will not be required to travel to the range IG, range DIG or the SSP/SP's office for any meeting, anywhere," an officer .
Currently, all 1,300 police stations in Bihar are connected with the internet and each SHO has received a laptop that they can use to join video calls via Google Meet or Zoom. However, the senior IPS officers currently join VCs through National Informatics centre (NIC), one of the High Definition Video Conferencing Services in the country for the government employees....
