Dhanbad: 3-day training prog for panchayat heads begins
Dhanbad, April 7 -- A three-day training-cum-orientation programme for elected mukhiyas (panchayat heads) commenced on Monday across multiple centres in Dhanbad district, covering all 256 panchayat representatives, people aware of the development said.
The programme is being conducted at Government Polytechnic, Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University (BBMKU), and the MTC Training Hall of Sadar Hospital. The initiative aims to strengthening grassroots governance by equipping mukhiyas with knowledge of their roles, administrative and financial powers, and effective implementation of government welfare schemes.
Deputy development commissioner Sunny Raj, who visited the training centre at Government Polytechnic, urged participants to pay close attention to the sessions and ensure that the learnings are implemented at the panchayat level.
"Mukhiyas play a crucial role in delivering governance at the grassroots. They must ensure transparent implementation of all major welfare schemes and work towards reaching the benefits to the last person in the village," he said.
He further emphasised accountability and people's participation in development initiatives.
During the sessions, participants are being trained on panchayat rights and responsibilities, administrative and financial authority of gram panchayats, transparent execution of development schemes, and the importance of public participation.
Resource persons from Ranchi and district-level officials are conducting sessions across the three venues for different blocks. The training will continue till April 8....
