DGP orders IG to probe manhandling of journos
PATNA, April 2 -- The DGP Vinay Kumar on Wednesday ordered the central range IG to investigate the allegation against the SHO of Naubatpur police station on the charges of misbehaving, abuse and manhandling with journalists in the state capital while suspended the SHO of Bhittha police station of Sitamarhi on the charges of abusing villagers.
The incident took place in the premises of city SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh's office building premise where a dozen journalists were abused by the SHO Manjit Thakur and threatened to send them to jail in false case. The journalists were assembled there in a media briefing organized by the city SP. After the incident, city SP assured the journalists action would be taken while investigating the entire matter. Even after two days of the incident, when no action was taken against the SHO, dozens of journalists met the DGP and complained against the SHO. HTC...
