PATNA, June 20 -- Three men allegedly gunned down a 32-year-old transgender during a wedding celebration at Patohwa village under the limits of Kateya police station in Bihar's Gopalganj district, police said on Friday.
According to police, Sonu Gaur, a resident of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh, was dancing on the stage when the trio forcibly tried to take Sonu off the stage. When their attempt was resisted, one of them shot Sonu in the stomach. "Three to four miscreants asked Sonu to dance on their choice of song and tried to pull Sonu down. Facing resistance, they shot Sonu and the latter died en route to hospital," said dance-drama troupe manager Ramayan Yadav.
Kateya station house officer Awadhesh Kumar said the police will investigate the matter thoroughly. "Raids are being conducted at possible hideouts of the suspects to arrest them at the earliest," he added.
Yadav added that Sonu had been associated with the troupe from since 2020 and was the sole breadwinner of his family.
"We have registered an FIR under BNS section 103 (murder)," the SHO added....
