Cops raid hotels in garhwa, get arrested couples marry instantly
RANCHI, April 9 -- Tuesday night turned out to be wedding night for four pairs of lovers in Garhwa district of Jharkhand. Caught in police raids on sex rackets in city hotels, they exchanged nuptial vows outside the Garhwa Sadar police station.
Their claim of commitment in relationships, verified by their parents and consent of families from both sides, said the city police, led to instant weddings.
"As their parents agreed, we arranged marigold garlands, vermillion and a priest. Everything was arranged outside the police station by parents themselves. It was better to see them 'locked for life' than locked in jail. Their possible legal ordeal ended in conjugal union," said Aman Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP), Garhwa.
According to the police, the police raids at SNC Hotel (Sonpurwa), Tiwari Inn (Ranka Mor), and RDS Hotel (Station Road) - where around 14 pairs of boys and girls - were arrested along with hotel staff was part of an intensified crackdown on flesh trade in such hotels.
