PATNA, Sept. 9 -- The Bihar health department revised the monthly remuneration of professors, associate professors, assistant professors, senior residents and junior residents working on a contractual basis at the state's government medical colleges and hospitals, according to a press release issued by the department on Tuesday. As per the department's order, the monthly remuneration has been raised from Rs.1,80,000 to Rs.2,07,000 in case of professor, from Rs.1,35,000 to Rs.1,55,000 for associate professor and from Rs.1,10,000 to Rs.1,25,000 for assistant professor: Additionally, the remuneration of a senior resident/tutor had been raised to Rs.1,15,000 per month and from Rs.65,000 to Rs.75,000 per month for junior resident doctors. The revised honorarium will come into effect from September 1, the release said. The decision is expected to directly benefit professors, associate professors, assistant professors, senior residents and junior residents working on contract at government medical colleges and hospitals across the state. The revision is being described as a significant step towards incentivising human resources engaged in the state's medical colleges.
