PATNA, May 1 -- A joint team of STF, Patna and Bhojpur police arrested fraudster Abhishek Agarwal alias Abhishek Bhopalka from an area of Kotwali police station in Patna late on Wednesday night. The economics offences unit had earlier arrested Abhishek who had called the Bihar DGP by posing as the Chief Justice of Patna high court and asked to close a case related to IPS officer Aditya Kumar. The EOU had arrested him on the charges of cheating, impersonation, causing hindrance in government work. Abhishek was wanted by the Bhojpur police after an FIR was lodged with Nawada (Bhojpur) police station under various sections of BNS and IT Act. "The arrested accused Abhishek, posing as an ED officer, was repeatedly making fraudulent calls to senior government employees in Patna and several other districts in favour of his work," a STF officer said. Earlier, Abhishek was repeatedly making fraudulent calls to senior government employees, claiming to be an officer of the high court, said the police. The EOU had registered cases against him under sections 120B/353/387/419/420/467/468 of the Indian Penal Code and 66/66 (D) of the Information Technology Act in 2020 and he was later sent to jail. The police headquarters in Patna was left red-faced after reports emerged that one Abhishek Agarwal allegedly impersonated the Chief Justice of the Patna high court (HC) as he made multiple WhatsApp calls to the DGP, asking him to withdraw the case against Kumar. According to one media report, the DGP purportedly responded by "replying in the affirmative"....
