PATNA, Oct. 26 -- During his address in Patna on Sunday, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge triggered a controversy with his remarks "Modi ka baap bhi jayega", in response to an audience member's comment that "the PM would not go anywhere". The audience member, reportedly a Congress worker from Chapra named Santosh Kumar, was replying to Kharge's statement that all those who have indulged in malpractices in the process of SIR would be sent to jail. Visibly upset, Kharge shot back at this. A ruckus followed, and Congress supporters thrashed and ejected the man, who later claimed that his words had been misunderstood and that he had said that Modi would not leave unless there was a revolt. Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary took strong exception to Kharge's reference in what he described as "an indecent" manner and demanded that the Congress must apologise to the country. The remark also quickly drew sharp reactions from the BJP. Union minister and Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh launched a scathing attack, saying he had earlier believed only Rahul Gandhi was foolish, but Kharge's statement showed Congress was a "bunch of fools." Other NDA leaders in Bihar described Kharge's comments as "unfortunate"....
