CM urges Bihari diaspora to invest in home state
PATNA, Oct. 25 -- Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday exhorted the Bihari community settled across the country and abroad to invest generously in their home state and become active partners in its growth engine.
Choudhary said this while addressing the curtain-raiser event of Bihar integrated manufacturing city Gaya limited (BIMCGL) and Bihar Business Connect-2027 in Bodh Gaya. He declared that Bihar is now ready for industrial take-off and there is no need for further delay.
"By February next year, when the full Business Connect meet is held, the government will have substantial land ready for industry," the CM said, offering an assurance to investors that all required clearances for their project to set up industries will be given within 30 days of application, despite the procedural wrangles. The 30-day deemed clearance provision, already embedded in the state's industrial promotion framework, is meant to eliminate bureaucratic delays and build genuine confidence among entrepreneurs.
The event also yielded investment proposals worth Rs.4,092 crore, which Choudhary described as the proof of commitments that industrial development in the state is set to gain new momentum. "Investment confidence, expansion of industries and employment for the youth - this is the resolve for a prosperous Bihar and a developed India," he said.
At the formal launch of the web portal for the 1,670-acre integrated manufacturing city at Dobhi, the officials said that the land allocation to investors has begun. The project, being developed under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor at an estimated cost of around Rs.1,339 crore, is designed as a modern industrial city with manufacturing units, logistics, warehousing and supporting infrastructure.
Citing the state government's plan to develop the existing airports with additional facilities and plans to build new airports at several locations, the CM underscored the need to strengthen air connectivity in Bihar, saying plans are under way to link Gaya with Dubai and Kathmandu by air while expanding services to Bhagalpur, Sonepur and other places in the state. Better aviation links, he said, would ease travel for investors, entrepreneurs, tourists and pilgrims and give a fresh fillip to industrial development.
Officials project that the integrated manufacturing cluster at Dobhi can attract manufacturing investment of over Rs.16,500 crore and generate around one lakh direct and indirect jobs. Focus sectors include agro and food processing, ready-made garments, auto components, engineering, packaging and related industries. More than 100 entrepreneurs and investors from different states participated in the programme.
Choudhary also outlined larger plans for the Gaya-Bodh Gaya region, including development of satellite townships under the Magadh identity, better connectivity through a Sone river corridor, improved water availability, roads, hospitals, tourism infrastructure and stronger international air links. "The government is working to create around 20,000 acres of industrial land by the time of the February 2027 summit and is targeting a significant increase in power capacity, up to 20,000 MW over the next five years, with emphasis on solar, wind and green hydrogen," he said.
The Dobhi project forms part of a wider industrial push. Industries minister Shreyasi Singh has noted that Bihar has received 1,091 investment proposals worth Rs.1.21 lakh crore since 2025, with the potential to generate over 68,800 jobs. The state is developing new industrial areas at 28 locations across 25 districts, aiming to make over 14,600 acres available....
