CM says police responsible for good governance, not caste identification
PATNA, May 22 -- Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday took a dig at the Opposition without naming anyone and said that the role of the police was not to look for caste of the anti-socials.
"Some people are asking that the during encounter, the police should ask the caste. Well, please do ask. It is their concern. What kind of common sense they use? I have clearly said if anyone challenges the police, a reply should be given within 48 hours, irrespective of anything. What is important is that Bihar should be known for good governance. Bihar police is for good governance and strictness," he said.
Choudhary said that the government would like to establish a model school, Saraswati Vidya Niketans, in all the 534 blocks of Bihar where senior bureaucrats and leaders crave to enrol their sons and daughters.
In an event at Bihar police headquarters, the CM said a stronger police would be required for good governance, which would open the passage for all sectors. He distributed cheques worth Rs 37 crores among 61 families on behalf of the Bank of Baroda.
The CM said that the criminals should not escape under any circumstances after committing crime.
"There is no dearth of resources for the police. Stronger police will gave good governance. The police have a tough job. Systems will have to be installed to generate revenue. Bihar is lagging behind in terms of industry and business, it has to be carried forward within a year," he added.
He asked the home secretary to send whatever proposal has been sent by the DGP without delay so that it could be passed in the next cabinet.
