PATNA, Aug. 26 -- Facing mounting political heat over notices served by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) to residents running businesses out of their homes, chief minister Samrat Chaudhary on Tuesday constituted a high-level committee headed by the deputy chief minister to find a "practical and people-friendly" resolution - a move that comes even as the Supreme Court's own nationwide crackdown on commercial use of residential properties tightens the noose on states across the country. The five-member committee will be headed by deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, with urban development and housing minister Nitish Kumar Mishra as member secretary. Rural development minister Shravan Kumar, cooperative minister Ramkripal Yadav and MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh will serve as members, according to a statement issued by the chief minister's office (CMO).
