PATNA, June 6 -- The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) has arrested Santosh Kumar, a close aide of Rishu Shree, on Monday. Santosh, an employee in Rishu Shree's company, was also responsible for managing another private firm, Matriswa Infra Private Limited. Following preliminary interrogation, the SVU sent him to judicial custody. In connection with allegations of tender manipulation and payment of commissions to senior officials, the SVU had registered an FIR on April 30 last year, in which Santosh was named as an accused along with Rishu Shree and IAS officer Sanjeev Hans. Investigations revealed that during the early phase of Rishu Shree's operations, nearly Rs.4 crore was invested in the Matriswa company, including alleged bribes paid to government officials. Rishu allegedly operated several companies in his own name, as well as in the names of his wife and associates, through which he is accused of manipulating tenders. According to the SVU, Rishu and his companies allegedly manipulated tenders of the Water Resources Department worth around Rs.125 crore through irregular means. The probe further revealed that Rishu allegedly secured a tender for Ahmedabad-based Kavrox Construction Private Limited using his influence and paid commissions to officials of the Water Resources Department.
