BETTIAH, July 11 -- A 10-year-old Class 2 student staying in the hostel of a private school was found dead in mysterious circumstances near Bagaha-2 in West Champaran district on Friday morning, prompting police to arrest two teachers in this connection, officials said. Laukariya's Station House Officer (SHO) in Bagaha police district, Raman Kumar, said the incident occurred at a private school and hostel at Harnatand under his police station area where the student Prince Kumar, 10, was found dead on Friday morning. "During investigation, it was found that the boy was allegedly beaten with a stick by teachers on Thursday late evening following his failure to complete his homework," the SHO said, adding two teachers Hemraj Kumar and Deepak Kumar have been arrested in this connection. The investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of Prince Kumar, son of Raj Kishore Sharma, a resident of Bherihari village near Valmikinagar in West Champaran. Deceased father, a migrant worker, was away at his workplace in Gujarat. The family members of the deceased learned about the incident after the school director Harendra Mahato called the family members, citing Prince's serious illness as the reason. "The doctor had already declared him brought dead by the time we reached the hospital," said Gopal Sharma, the deceased's grandfather. The SHO said that the child's body bore deep stick marks on his hips, while injuries around the eye region had caused redness in one of his eyes.
