RANCHI, Aug. 22 -- Clashes broke out in at least four district headquarters in the state on Friday as ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party workers allegedly disrupted a statewide effigy-burning campaign organised by students, protesting irregularities in state recruitment examinations under the banner of JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch.
The state found itself back in the grip of political tension as the Jharkhand high court on Thursday and Friday stayed the state government's decision to cancel the 11th and 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Civil Service, JPSC-CDPO, JSSC-CGL examination and JPSC-Food Safety appointments.
The high court's intervention came less than 24 hours after chief minister Hemant Soren's government, yielding to a 26-day student agitation, had initially notified the cancellation of 22 separate recruitment examinations....
