CID may take over probe against JD(U) legislators
PATNA, June 3 -- The Bihar police headquarters (PHQ) said on Tuesday that the criminal investigation department (CID) had been asked to take up the investigation in a land dispute case involving Kuchaikote JD(U) MLA Amrendra Kumar alias Pappu Pandey and an Arms Act case registered against criminal-turned-politician JD(U) MLA from Mokama Anant Singh.
Both the cases were registered by Gopalganj police. The first FIR was registered against Amrendra Pandey, his brother and notorious gangster Satish Pandey and others, while the second FIR was registered against Anant Singh and others.
In one FIR, a police officer mentioned that Anant Singh was seen clapping during a dance performance. Many video clips of people brandishing weapons (pattern of AK-47 rifles) and dancing to Bhojpuri songs were posted on social media.
The FIR says the incident took place on May 3. "Police have identified some of the accused through viral video clips. Displaying illegal or licensed weapons at public places, making a video of it, posting it on social media and vulgar dance is illegal and punishable offence," said an official.
Meanwhile, on April 12, police conducted raids at Amrendra Kumar's ancestral village, Naya Gaon Tulsia, and at a fuel station in Hathua linked to him following allegations of land grabbing, patronising land mafias. However, he could not be traced. The SC later stayed his arrest....
