PATNA, June 18 -- Thousands of aspirants travelling to return their destination after appearing for the Bihar Excise Constable Recruitment Examination caused widespread disruption across the state's railway network on Wednesday, leaving many passengers with confirmed reservations stranded as trains and stations witnessed unprecedented overcrowding. On Wednesday, the second day and last shift of the recruitment examination concluded. The first shift was from 10 am to 12 noon and the second shift was from 3 pm to 5 pm. Around 5.52 lakh candidates appeared for the exam at 500 centres in 38 districts of the state. Around 14 lakh aspirants participated in the shift wise exams against a mere 4,000 vacancies. Earlier, the Central Selection Board of Constables (CSBC) claimed that for first phase examination, the board had issued 5.52 lakh admit cards for the aspirants. A massive rush was witnessed at Bhagalpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Siwan, Patna, Kishanganj, Gaya, Jehanabad, Sonepur as thousands of candidates headed home following the examination. Overcrowded platforms, packed trains, and long queues created travel challenges for passengers and aspirants alike. Every door clogged with dozens of aspirants fighting for space. Visuals from the station showed large crowds waiting for trains, highlighting the scale of the recruitment examination and the pressure on railway infrastructure. Students were seen trying to climb through the window as a large number of students had gathered at the Darbhanga railway station.
