PATNA, May 13 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which will probe the NEET paper leak case, is also likely to take over a case registered with the Bihar's Giriyak police station against five members of "solver gang" including two MBBS students of Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical sciences (VIMS), Pawapuri (Nalanda).
Police have arrested three persons identified as Awadhesh Kumar Rai (Muzaffarpur), Aman Kumar Singh (Motihari) and Pakaj Kumar Shah (Muzaffarpur) on May 2 ahead of the NEET-UG medical entrance examination held on May 3.
"An FIR registered against five persons including second-year-MBBS students of 2022 batch Awadhesh Kumar, Ujjawal Kumar alias Raja Babu, and Raja Kumar under sections 316(2)/318(4)/319(2)/336(3)/338/339/340(2)/61(2) of BNS 2023 & 66/66(D) IT ACT on the basis of the statement of ASI Mohammad Rehman Khan," said Rajgir SDPO Sunil Kumar Singh, adding that police has recovered Rs 2.95 lakh cash, a Scorpio and Brezza vehicles from their possession.
Data retrieved from Awadhesh Kumar's mobile phone reportedly includes admit cards for NEET, AEO, and BSNL exams, along with chat records and financial transactions.
During interrogation Awadhesh told the police that he was part of the gang members. The kingpin of the gang is Ujjwal Raj alias Raja Babu, a resident of Muzaffarpur, is absconding. Investigation has revealed that the gang used to charge Rs.20 to 30 lakh from the candidates in the name of passing the NEET exam....
