PATNA, Sept. 14 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday evening conducted raid at the house of area distributor of Airtel at Mahua area under the same police station in Vaishali district on Sunday evening and arrested a man and seized about 1,300 SIM cards and other equipment from his possession. The CBI arrest is connected to an investigation into an SIM Box operation being used to perpetrate cyber-enabled fraud in Supaul. The case had come to light in 2025. During the raid, besides SIM cards, incriminating materials were seized and various digital devices like mobile phones, laptops, SIM cards were seized. The CBI is investigating a case of illegal SIM box operation that was detected in Supaul district in 2025. The case was subsequently transferred to the CBI. More than 1300 SIM cards were found in the house where the SIM box was being operated. The CBI also collated data which indicates that this SIM box operation was connected to at least 73 cases of cybercrime all across India, including "digital arrest" cases. Data related to over 1300 SIM cards was extensively analyzed and it was found that bulk of the SIM cards were issued from Bihar and Odisha....
