Buxar CS orders probe after doc found absent from emergency duty
PATNA, Aug. 19 -- Buxar civil surgeon-cum-chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Sheo Kumar Prasad Chakravarty has ordered an inquiry after a doctor was found absent from emergency duty at the community health centre (CHC), Brahampur, leaving patients without medical attention on August 17, said an order issued by the civil surgeon on Tuesday.
The civil surgeon constituted a two-member inquiry committee headed by additional chief medical officer, Buxar, with the district communicable disease officer, Buxar, as member.
The committee has been directed to verify the attendance of the absent doctor as well as the officer-in-charge and all other doctors posted at CHC Brahampur, by cross-checking biometric and records on Bhavya portal (official platform of Bihar health department to digitise and integrate public healthcare services across the state's hospitals and health centres), and to submit a report within two days.
According to the order, a complaint received through the Sahyog portal (Bihar's centralised public grievance redressal and real-time monitoring system (RTMS) stated that no doctor was present at CHC Brahampur's emergency unit on the said date, causing hardship to patients.
Dr Deepa Verma, who was on roster duty that day, reportedly did not report on time and joined only after repeated calls from senior officials. The order added the doctor in charge at Brahampur CHC attended duty on only five days in the entire month and was in Patna when block health manager contacted him....
