BUXAR, Sept. 25 -- A special POCSO court in Buxar on Thursday has granted bail to Imam Ali Ansari, a middle school headmaster, citing lack of evidence or substantial facts to support the allegations against him. Ansari was arrested on September 4, the eve of Teachers' Day, in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case relates to a school under the Krishnabrahma police station area and was registered following the circulation of a viral video involving two other teachers at the institution. Police had alleged that Ansari, despite being aware of the incident, failed to report the matter to senior officials. Following his arrest, the state government removed his name from the official list of teachers selected for the September 5 Teachers' Day honour. Defence lawyer Shashikant Upadhyay, arguing for the bail application before the Special Judge (POCSO) in Buxar, submitted that the headmaster had no criminal history and that there were no direct allegations against him in the FIR.
