BJP youth wing district general secretary found shot dead at home, probe underway
PURNEA, Sept. 19 -- A 22-year-old district general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) youth wing, Abhijit Singh Rajput, was found shot dead inside his home on Friday, police said.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Pankaj Kumar Singh, who rushed to the scene at Ward-16 under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station, confirmed the killing. "Prima facie it appears he was shot dead in his home. Describing Rajput as a popular and emerging youth leader, police officials stated that political rivalry is being actively examined. "We have started an investigation from all possible angles," SDPO Singh said, adding,"We can't rule out the possibility of political rivalry," police said. Saharsa mayor, and wife of late BJP MLA Sanjeev Kumar Jha, Bain Priya, demanded immediate arrest of the people responsible for the murder.
An FIR has not been lodged until the filing of the report. "Forensic experts have collected evidence from the site," SDPO said adding, "We have interrogated some of his friends.
