BJP prez Nabin inaugurates new office for Bankipur poll
PATNA, July 15 -- The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Tuesday formally launched its campaign with Nabin inaugurating the alliance's election office at Thakur Prasad Community Hall in Kidwaipuri and appealing to voters to support BJP nominee Neeraj Kumar Sinha, 32.
The inauguration was attended by senior BJP leaders, district presidents of NDA constituent parties, elected representatives and a large gathering of party workers, marking the formal start of the alliance's campaign.
Nabin, who is on a two-day visit to Patna to campaign in his former constituency, necessitated by his resignation from the seat, urged the people to extend the same support to Neeraj Kumar Sinha that they had shown him over the years.
A four-time MLA from Bankipur who resigned after being elected BJP national president and later elevated to the Rajya Sabha, Nabin said he remained accountable to the people of the constituency and urged them to repose the same faith in Sinha.
"I hope the affection and blessings you gave me will also be extended to Neeraj Kumar Sinha. He will work with the same commitment and further accelerate Bankipur's development," Nabin said.
"I hope that the affection and blessings you (people of Bankipur) gave me as your younger brother will also be extended to my younger brother Neeraj Sinha," said Nabin.
"I stand here with the people of my area as I am accountable to them as a worker and former MLA. I am glad that the BJP has given a chance to a mandal president to serve the people of Bankipur," he added.
"My responsibility is to stand firmly with people of my constituency; hope the same blessings that have been extended to me will also be extended to BJP candidate Neeraj Sinha, who will serve them with dedication," Nabin added.
Describing Sinha as a dedicated grassroots worker and former mandal president, Nabin said the BJP had given an opportunity to a committed party worker to represent Bankipur. He noted that Sinha hailed from the family of a Jan Sangh-era worker and had earned recognition through years of organisational work and public service.
Recalling his family's long association with the constituency, Nabin said his late father, Naveen Kishore Prasad Sinha, had nurtured Bankipur for decades, while he himself had spent the last 20 years working closely with its residents. He highlighted development initiatives undertaken during his tenure, including improvements in roads, parks, community infrastructure, drinking water and other civic amenities.
Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi described the inauguration as the formal beginning of the NDA's bypoll campaign and asserted that the alliance's organisational strength and governance record would ensure victory. He said the NDA would seek votes on the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led Central government and the Bihar government headed by chief minister Samrat Choudhary, while urging party workers to intensify booth-level outreach for taking the government's achievements to every household to ensure a decisive mandate for Sinha.
The programme was attended by BJP organisation general secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsania, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, BJP leader Jivesh Mishra, district presidents of NDA constituent parties and other senior leaders.
The BJP on July 10 named Neeraj Sinha as its candidate, less than an hour after its earlier nominee, Abhishek Kumar Sinha alias Bunty, 42, withdrew from the contest citing family reasons, a day after filing his nomination papers. Scrutiny of nomination papers was held on July 14, while July 16 is the last date for withdrawal of candidatures. Polling will be held on July 30 and counting of votes on August 3....
