Biometric contractor in Lakhisarai NEET-UG cheating case arrested
PATNA, Oct. 11 -- The economic offence unit (EOU) probing Re-National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG cheating racket of Lakhisarai, arrested one prime accused identified as Pramod Kumar Yadav, on Saturday.
The responsibility for biometric checking in the NEET exam in Lakhisarai was given to EDCIL, which sublet it to a company called Innovative View, said people aware of the development.
Pramod Kumar Yadav, a resident of Nalanda, took the contract for Innovative View and paid Rs.500 to boys aged 18 to 20 for biometric examination at the centre, they added.
During interrogation, some accused earlier told that Pramod Yadav had instructed that if a scholar's fingerprint did not match, he should still be allowed to enter the examination centre.
According to the EOU, on June 21, 2026, a case was brought to light during the NEET re-examination at the Khagaur examination centre of Lakhisarai Kendriya Vidyalaya, where a student attempted to take the examination in the place of the original candidate.
Meanwhile, Pramod confessed to his involvement and revealed that with the help of Vikas and Rahul, he had taken a tender for biometric verification of the examination. Subsequently, with the connivance of Mohammad Shahzad, Sunidh Kumar and Rohit Kumar alias Murari, biometric operators were used to allow fake candidates to enter the exam centre in place of the original candidates.
EOU DIG Manavjit Singh Dhillon said a charge sheet had already been filed against the 14 accused previously arrested in this case. Meanwhile, Rohit Kumar alias Murari has been remanded in this case from the Nawada's Town police station....
