KISHANGANJ, May 22 -- An alleged bike lifter with a criminal record was injured in a police encounter near Faringola railway gate near West Bengal under Sadar police station in Kishanganj district, police said on Thursday. Police said that Pawan Kumar alias Chintu Yadav, a resident of Rautara in Katihar, suffered a bullet injury in the leg while two officers Nitish Kumar and Mustaq Alam, both posted at Sadar police station, sustained bullet injuries in the exchange of fire. All injured are undergoing treatment. "Based on inputs, a team reached Faringola railway gate on Wednesday. When they tried to intercept the accused, Pawan opened fire at the team. He was shot in the leg in retaliatory firing. Police later seized firearms and a bike from the site," an officer said. Kishanganj DM Vishal Raj and SP Santosh Kumar along with police forces reached the site and took stock of the situation. SP said, "Police will continue their investigation and nab other gang members soon."...
