Bihar Lok Adalat to hear 500,000 cases tomorrow
PATNA, Sept. 11 -- The National Lok Adalat will be held across all 37 districts of Bihar on September 12, with nearly 500,000 pre-litigation cases identified for settlement, officials of the Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA) said on Thursday.
Of the 4,99,736 pre-litigation cases identified, the authority has set a target of settling more than 50,000 cases. The number could go up to 100,000, said BSLSA member secretary Purushottam Mishra while addressing a press conference.
The authority has completed preparations across the state. Drinking water, sanitation and medical facilities have been arranged at all Lok Adalat camps to ensure public convenience and deal with emergencies, BSLSA joint secretary Avinash Kumar said. In Patna, 30 counters will be set up at Gandhi Maidan (gate number 7) to settle traffic challan cases, which totaled nearly 740,000 as of September 1.
