Bihar DGP goes on leave; Preeta Verma given addl charge
PATNA, Sept. 16 -- Bihar director general of police (DGP) Vinay Kumar has gone on a 21-day leave. In his absence, IPS officer of 1991 batch Preeta Verma has been made the in-charge DGP. She is currently director general-cum-commandant general of Home Guards and Fire Services. She will remain in the additional charge of DGP till incumbent DGP Kumar resumes duty. Late evening, Verma took charge of DGP as an additional charge.
Preeta Verma was holding the post of DG-cum-commandant general of Home Guards after the retirement of her senior, Shobha Ohatker.
The home department has issued the notification on Tuesday evening.
According to departmental information, DGP Vinay Kumar is going on leave for unavoidable personal and health reasons.
His leave period has been sanctioned from September 15. He will be on leave till October 5, 2026. Vinay Kumar, a 1990-batch IPS officer, is currently on a two-year extension of service, which will end on December 12, 2026.
During this time, DGP in-charge Preeta Verma will handle all the responsibilities related to his post....
