Bihar BDO under scanner in DA case; 3 officials caught taking bribe
PATNA, Sept. 9 -- The anti-corruption wings of Bihar government, on Tuesday, took strict action against four government officials. The economic offences unit (EOU) searches and raided the five locations of Anand Kumar Vibhuti, posted as block development officer (BDO) of Bahadurpur in Darbhanga after registering a DA case of Rs.1.71 crore while the vigilance investigation bureau (VIB) caught red-handed three government officials including Aman Kumar, junior engineer (JE) of Jehanabad MGNREGA, Kunal Kumar clerk of Sheikhpura DTO office and sub inspector of Gandhi Maidan traffic police station Upendra Shah, while accepting bribe.
According to director general of VIB, Jitendra Singh Gangwar, Aman Kumar was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000, while Kunal Kumar and Upendra Sah were caught while receiving illegal graft of Rs.15,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively. Accused Aman Kumar and Upendra Sah would be produced before a Special Vigilance Court at Patna while Kunal would be produced before Special Vigilance Court at Bhagalpur after questioning, police said. Meanwhile, EOU DIG Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said, Anand Kumar Vibhuti of East Champaran and posted in Bahadurpur block, qualified Bihar Public Service Commission in 2014, and in just 12 years of his tenure, amassed 121.87 per cent more wealth than his known sources of income.
During searches of his ancestral house, the EOU found a palatial building in which the BDO spent over Rs.70 lakh....
