SASARAM, April 26 -- A 35-year-old murder accused, who was out on bail, was shot dead near Babhangawan village under the Darigaon police station area of Rohtas district on Friday night. Police suspect that the killing was carried out by the family of his deceased neighbour in an act of revenge. The deceased, Deepu Sah, had been released on bail a few months ago. He was returning to his native Barki Karpurwa village from Kudra market on a motorcycle around 9 pm when armed assailants allegedly opened fire, killing him on the spot. Sasaram Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dilip Kumar and Superintendent of Police (SP) Raushan Kumar reached the scene along with forensic and technical teams. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation was launched. The victim's family alleged that members of the late neighbour Saroj Paswan's family were behind the murder, claiming it was an act of revenge. Police said Paswan was killed in 2024 in a land and money dispute, in which Sah and three others were arrested. The SP said, "Paswan's father, who is the mastermind of the murder, has been arrested, and raids are being conducted to apprehend the other accused who are absconding. Investigation is underway and action will be taken accordingly." A case has been registered at Darigaon police station under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 25(1B)(a), 26, 27 and 35 of the Arms Act, against six named and two to three unidentified accused....
