Bear hit by train dies in W Champaran
BETTIAH, July 21 -- A bear that had strayed out of the forest of the Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) was killed after being hit by a train while crossing a railway track near Valmikinagar Road railway station in West Champaran district on Monday, affecting movement of trains.
VTR's field director Gaurav Ojha said the animal was attempting to cross the railway track near bridge number 357 at Arganwa Tola between Valmikinagar Road and Paniahwa station on Paniahwa-Narkatiaganj railway section falls under the Samastipur Division of East Central Railway (ECR) when it was struck by the passing train, resulting in its death.
"The carcass was later recovered by the forest department, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident," said the field director, adding the train involved in the incident could not be ascertained as yet....
