Authorities intensify action against illegal coal mining in Dhanbad district
DHANBAD, Aug. 12 -- While the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have intensified action against illegal coal mining, theft and transportation, the Dhanbad district administration is working on plans to support communities after mining activities end in the district, officials said on Tuesday.
As part of its enforcement drive, CISF and BCCL conducted raids and searches at 17 locations on August 10. Around 24.50 tonnes of illegally stored coal were recovered near Bhuiya Basti in the Bastacola area. BCCL said the seized coal would be dealt with under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. An illegal mining opening in the Katras area was also filled during the operation.
"BCCL management, district administration and local police are maintaining continuous coordination for quick and effective action," the company said in its release....
