PATNA, Sept. 26 -- President of AIIMS Patna Prof (Dr) RK Dhiman on Friday urged the institute's faculty to develop the premier hospital as Bihar's organ transplantation hub to improve access to specialised transplant services across the state. Speaking at the institute's 15th foundation day celebrations, Dr Dhiman said a dedicated transplant centre would strengthen specialised care for patients requiring organ transplants in the state. AIIMS Patna executive director Prof (Brig) Dr Raju Agarwal, while presenting the annual report, said the institute plans to establish a mother and child block, a comprehensive cancer centre and an artificial intelligence special-purpose hub. The facilities will expand specialised healthcare services and promote the use of advanced technology and AI in healthcare. The event's chief guest, IIM Bodh Gaya director Prof Vinita S Sahay, stressed the importance of excellence, innovation, leadership and collaboration. AIIMS Patna and IIM Bodh Gaya also signed an MoU to promote academic interaction, knowledge exchange and capacity building. The two institutions will explore joint academic programmes, international conferences and symposiums, besides open-enrolment and customised training programmes in healthcare management, AIIMS Patna said in a press release.
