After MBBS exam fiasco, AKU says 2 papers cancelled
PATNA, May 3 -- The 3rd Professional MBBS (Part-2) exam of Aryabhatt Knowledge University (AKU), which made news for all the wrong reasons from the outset at the Patna Science College (PSC) centre, finally completely derailed on the third day on Saturday, as the students refused to appear for the paper "unless the atmosphere was made conducive for them to take the test on their terms".
AKU exam controller Rajiv Ranjan said the examination board had decided to cancel the two papers - held on April 30 and May 2 - on the basis of adverse reports. He, however, said the notification would be issued later after discussions.
"We want to carry on with rest of the exams as per schedule, but at a different centre, as PSC principal Alka Yadav has refused to conduct the exams anymore. The next paper is on Monday and we are looking into the modalities to ensure that rest of the papers are held as per schedule," he said.
He did not elaborate as to why an important examination ended up in a mess and blamed it on the PSC.
When asked how the examinees reached the PSC centre again on May 2 when she had categorically maintained on April 30 itself that she would not hold any exam of AKU, she said, "Ask AKU. It is for them to answer."
The exam centre at PSC and the presence of an observer who wanted the sanctity of the exam to be maintained proved too much for the candidates, who had expected it to be different, from the very first paper.
