7 held for attack on min's convoy in madhubani
PATNA, June 9 -- Madhubani police arrested seven persons, including three women, on charges of attacking the convoy of labour resources and migrant workers welfare minister Arun Shankar in Thahar village of Khajauli police station area, police said on Monday.
The minister was attacked by locals when he went to meet the family of a road accident victim in the village. During the visit, some anti-social elements provoked a group of women present at the spot and pushed them in front of the minister's vehicle. The group allegedly began raising demands and also damaged the minister's vehicle windshield with stones.
The minister, however, remained unhurt, the police said.
Madhubani SP Yogendra Kumar said that the main conspirator of the attack, Sunil Kumar Singh, is among those arrested and all arrests followed a massive operation to apprehend everyone who took part in the attack.
"In view of the seriousness of the incident, a joint raid was carried out late on Sunday night with the Sadar SDM, four SDPOs and a police team from ten police stations. The simultaneous raids started at 11 pm in Thahar and its surrounding villages. Seven people were arrested by early morning," said the SP, adding that based on preliminary investigation, the case appears to be a pre-planned conspiracy....
