65-year-old murdered for 'sorcery' in Gaya Ji
GAYA JI, June 5 -- A 65-year-old man was allegedly murdered for being a 'sorcerer' in front of his family members, with his body later placed on nearby railway tracks to resemble an accident near Bandhua village under Mufassil police station area of Gaya Ji district, police said on Thursday.
Rajendra Manjhi's 10-yr-old granddaughter Anushka recounted that he was sleeping outside his hut around 10pm on Wednesday when more than 10 intoxicated persons armed with sticks and sharp weapons arrived. "They dragged my grandfather away at some distance, assaulted him and severed his hands," she said.
The child alleged the miscreants claimed Manjhi had practised sorcery, causing the death of a child in their family. "They attacked him on the head with a dagger and grandfather died on the spot. They later dumped the body on the railway track," she added.
Mufassil SDPO Sunil Pandey reached the spot with police force. They recovered the remains from the tracks. "The body was cut into two pieces, probably after being run over by a train," he said. Thirteen people have been charged under BNS....
